25 Ways To Repurpose & Reuse Old Vintage Wood Doors

Well you all know how I feel about old window frames, but doors... oh doors! There are a ton of great uses for these vintage finds.

If you have trouble finding them, try a salvage shop, yard sale or trash pile (if your local we usually have a few in stock at the store). Here are some great redo ideas for door... they take a little doing but worth every repurposed penny!

1. Add sides & shelves to make a storage center - great for a hall tree too!
2. Add a mirror & mag rack for a front door organizer
3. Paint interior panels with chalkboard paint & hang or lean in office or kitchen
4. Add a base or legs with a piece of glass on top for a great family farm table

5. Love this! Chalkboard paint on the insets make a great weekly organizer!

6. This will take a little crafty work, but what a CUTE bench!

7. Paint a solid color & lean in the corner - put inspirational messages or reminders - leave the chalk for your guests to write notes too.

8. This door is functional but with added mirrors to make the space look large - LOVE!

9. This one is also functional with a little paint added to the glass top - great for a menu board or grocery list

10. Thank you Nate Berkus for this one - cut it down and make a great coffee table

11. How cute is this??? A toddler bed! Use your standard metal frame and drill holes for the screws. VIOLA.

12. Another great leaning door. Paint the whole thing with chalkboard paint or only a small section - it is up to you! Great for a teens room for friends to write on too.

13. Did I mention how much I love farm tables??? This one is a flat farm door with wooden skirt & legs added. You could do this to any door & maybe add a slab of glass for the top, or not, up to you!

14. Great coffee table idea - Go to Lowes or Home Depot (or your local hardware store if they carry legs) & pick out a set of legs - make sure they are strong enough to hold the weight of the door. Pre-drill holes & screw in. Oh yeah, paint the door & legs before you put together - it will be a lot easier.

15. Vintage wide solid door headboard - this one has added legs to be screwed into the metal frame. So cute!

16. This is a fav also! I love tin ceiling tiles... and this one combines the door with the tiles. You may have to cut them down to fit your insets but the tin is usually pretty thin on these beauties so it shouldn't be too hard. Use tack nails or a metal adhesive.

17. This is such a sweet idea. Cut the door in half & nail or hinge together. Buy or make half round shelves & afix. The legs on the bottom will help it from tipping over.
18. This one has been hung using a french cleat. Google to learn how to make one - pretty easy & super secure.
19. Such a sweet little bench. Cut down into four pieces, cut the top into two long pieces & the bottom into two squares & screw together.
20. This door got an update with crown molding added to the top & vintage door knobs added to the sides for a cute accent.
21. Another great door turned farm table. This one has vintage linen doilies added to the insets but you could do anything there - pictures, art, paint, get creative.

22. This door is used to display family photos at a wedding. Tack strips of ribbon to the top and use clothes pins to clip on photos. Great for holidays too!

23. This double hump vintage door has been painted & leaned against an empty wall for a great accent piece. Love the bold color!

24. Add hooks for an easy coat rack

25. Wide farm house door with shelves added & chalkboard paint painted on the glass. So cute for a kitchen cubby.
Okay, so this is not a door but it is vintage door related. The key plates have so much character - why not turn them into something beautiful like this chandelier. HEART! HEART! HEART!

Here are some we have in the store today but our stock is always changing....

  7. I love doors too. I have several old doors, and am concerned about lead paint. I don't want to scrape, sand or torch it off, and don't have a really good respirator, so I hope sealing the lead paint with either varnish or repainting it will do the trick. Any ideas or thoughts on that? Your site is very inspirational!

  8. I'm extremely impressed along with your writing abilities and also with the format on your blog about antique doors Redlands. Is that this a paid theme or did you modify it your self? Anyway keep up the excellent high quality writing, it is rare to see a nice blog like this one nowadays..

  9. These are great ideas! My aunt used three old wood doors to create a backdrop for her wedding. The three doors were connected, had some flowers on them and a chandelier hanging down. It was a beautiful spot for them to say their vows. http://www.usafiredoor.com/wood-doors
